Abstract

Nowadays microgels which are cross linked particles have attracted a lot of attention in the coatings industry. Microgels have been used in solvent based and water based coatings because of their appropriate rheological behavior and positive effects on the coatings properties during applying and after curing. Using these kind of materials are very common in powder and electrocoatings. The attained properties of microgels are related to their structure, particle size, crosslinking density. Microgels could improved leveling, mechanical properties and edge coverage of the coatings. Ultimately, they can improve the protective properties, appearance, sagging limit and crater resistance of the coating materials.
