Color is a fundamental element of visual perception, essential to the identity and quality of urban spaces. This study examines the colorscape of the Narenjestan Ghavam Historical Passageway in Shiraz. Owing to recent projects, the passage serves as a critical case study highlighting the tension between its historic chromatic palette and contemporary aesthetic additions. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines field surveys and digital photography with quantitative analysis. Findings indicate that the historic façades are predominantly defined by authentic earthy and native tones, such as cream, beige, and brown, that harmonize intrinsically with local construction materials. In contrast, contemporary murals and interventions introduce a broad spectrum of saturated, contrasting hues, including blue, purple, pink, and red. This has led to a measured increase of more than 60% in chromatic diversity, resulting in significant visual disturbance and a weakening of the passage’s coherence and historical identity. The study concludes that conserving and restoring the colorscape of Narenjestan Ghavam Historical Passageway requires the restriction of incongruent interventions,
