Magnetic adsorbents based on oleaster seed were synthesized in two forms, film and granular, using an optimized alginate gelation method, and employed for the simultaneous removal of crystal violet and methylene blue dyes. The effects of operational parameters, including solution pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, temperature, and initial dye concentration on adsorption efficiency, were investigated. BET and SEM analyses revealed that the Film Activated Carbon (FAC) had a higher specific surface area and a more uniform pore distribution, thus offering a higher adsorption capacity compared to the Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). Experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Temkin isotherm models, as well as first-order, second-order, and Elovich kinetic models. The highest adsorption capacities for crystal violet and methylene blue were 11.49 and 13.69 mg/g, for the FAC, and 9.73 and 10.20 mg/g for the GAC. Thermodynamic results indicated that the adsorption process for both adsorbents was spontaneous and exothermic. The findings highlight high potential of bio-based adsorbents for the simultaneous removal of organic pollutants from water.
