[English]

Color, particularly in the form of saturated hues, is considered one of the most powerful elements in contemporary urban design and environmental graphics. It plays a significant role in shaping users’ spatial experience, reflecting cultural layers of the environment, and enhancing the visual quality of the urban landscape. The use of saturated color, with its perceptual, semiotic, and aesthetic dimensions, can contribute to the creation of cohesive, meaningful, and interaction-oriented spaces within the contemporary urban fabric. This study aims to analyze the functions of saturated colors in environmental graphics and urban architecture, exploring their conceptual, practical, and strategic implications in modern urban contexts. The research employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, utilizing library sources, document analysis, and selected case studies. The findings reveal that saturated colors, due to their strong visual impact and capacity for symbolic and emotional communication, can transform static public spaces into active, meaningful, and participatory environments. These colors not only enhance legibility and visual coherence but also play a key role in shaping local identity, fostering a sense of belonging, and revitalizing deteriorated urban areas. Moreover, the growing presence of such colors in urban environments reflects the needs of contemporary social and cultural groups, as well as a response to aesthetic, functional, and communicative challenges in cities. By proposing strategies and policies for the purposeful use of saturated colors in urban design, this study highlights the importance of considering social, cultural, climatic, and technological aspects in the spatial intervention and design process of contemporary urban environments.
